Biography

Trevor Mack is an award-winning Tsilhqot'in nation filmmaker from the interior of British Columbia, Canada. Raised by his mother and family on the Tl'etinqox reserve, his culture and upbringing provided a strong foundation for storytelling expressed through his current film work. Mack started his film career at 17 years old when he helped create a freelance video editing and motion graphics group called 'Viral Design'. The group secured contracts to produce promotional videos for companies such as Red Bull, Gunnar Optiks, and Steelseries. In 2013, at 21 years old, he debuted his first short film, The Blanketing. It screened across North America and in New Zealand at festivals such as the Vancouver Indigenous Media Arts Festival, Toronto Independent Film Festival, and imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival among others. Mack's second short film, Clouds of Autumn, debuted at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival in 2015 among others. Clouds of Autumn received the 'Best Canadian Short Drama' award at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival and 'Best Cinematography' at the 2016 Air Canada enRoute Film Festival. In the spring of 2016, Mack was chosen to direct seven episodes of the acclaimed APTN series The Other Side, which aired on broadcast TV in October 2016. Currently, he is working with Kathleen Hepburn on the script for the feature film 'Out of the Barren' with support from the Canada Council for the Arts. Mack's new short ʔEtsu (Grandmother) made its world premiere at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. It screens at the Vancouver International Film Festival in October 2017.
