Miriyam Faris is a Lebanese musician and actress. Her art career began through ballet which she started learning at the age of five. By the time she was nine years old Miriyam took part in a junior talent program which was broadcast on Lebanese television and earned first place in the dance category. Miriyam Faris was born on the 3rd of May, 1983 in Southern Lebanon, however she currently lives in the area of New Rawdah. Her family is composed of her mother and father, a sister named Rola who currently works as her agent, and another sister named Gehan. Miriyam studied music at the National Music Institute (The Conservatoire) for a period of four years. At the age of sixteen Miriyam took part in the Lebanese Song Festival which was broadcast on Lebanese television. Miriyam earned the golden award in that competition. At the age of twenty Miriyam released her first song album which was titled “Anna wa al-Shawq” (“Longing and I”). She also made video clips for “Anna wa al-Shawq” and “La Tasalnee” (“Don’t Ask Me”). Her second album was titled “Nadeeny” (“Call Me”) and was released in 2005, Miriyam recorded video clips for “Nadeeny”, “Wahishny Leih” (“Why Do I Miss You?”) and “Haqlaq Rahtak”. Her third album was released in 2008 and was titled “Bitqool Eih” (“What are You Saying?”), Miriyam once more recorded video clips for “Makanah Wein” (“Where is He?”), “Ughnyah” (“A Song”) and “Eih el Beyehsal” (“What’s Happening?”). With regards to acting, Miriyam Faris assumed the leading role in the film title “Celina” and in Ramadan of 2010 Miriyam hosted a Ramadan trivia show which was titled “Fawazir Miriyam” (“Miriyam Trivia”) thus making her the first Lebanese performer to present a Ramadan trivia show. The show was broadcast on the al-Qahira (Cairo) network. Miriyam has been likened to “Shakira of the Arabs” as it is thought that she resembles Shakira in her attire and dance techniques. Her most important hobbies are dancing, singing and driving.
