Miguel Berzal de Miguel is an artist from Madrid. As a writer: El refugio (The Refuge), Entre parientes (Among Relatives - one of the 20 novels selected in the 2016 Premio Gregorio Samsa for which 315 works were entered), Las horas muertas (The Dead Hours - on the list of the 10 best-selling books in Spain in the autumn of 2021) and Náuseas & La hiedra (Nausea & The Ivy - recently presented at the last Madrid Book Fair). These have earned him excellent reviews in cultural media and he has been a finalist for two literary awards with Entre parientes and Las horas muertas. As a film director and scriptwriter, he has four films (three short films and one feature film): Cuidar a Ruth (Taking Care of Ruth), Un encuentro (An Encounter), Nomeolvides (Forget-me-nots), and Sin novedad (No News) for which he has been praised by jury panels, critics, and audiences at several of the major international film festivals worldwide, such as the Cleveland International Film Festival, HollyShorts Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Dances With Films and Västerås Film Festival. In addition, Sin novedad received 19 official selections for the 2019 Premios Goya and 7 selections for the Premios Forqué (including Best Film). As a lyric tenor, he is still in training. He is the sole student of the great baritone Rodrigo Esteves and the great tenor Charles Castronovo, who highlight his powerful metallic voice.
